I am excited to report that ThaiBev made substantial progress toward fulfilling our goal of being the stable and sustainable ASEAN leader in the total beverage business by 2020. We remain fully committed to achieving our “Vision 2020”, which has been set with clear goals under the five imperative: Growth, Diversity, Brands, Reach and Professionalism.

We also continue to focus on “Creating and Sharing the Value of Growth” among all our stakeholders both within our company, in communities we operate in, and in rural areas across the country. We participated in projects related to corporate social responsibility (CSR), creating shared value (CSV), expand our limitless opportunities for our employees and more. These values strongly influence our business decisions and motivate our people.

At operational level, Thai Beverage’s sustainability path is guided by Sufficiency Economy Philosophy and framed by the Sustainability Development Goals broken down into three paths or sustainability balance sheets. For economic perspectives, we believe in long term business commitments, and we set a clear framework of financial discipline. For environment, we care for the entire value chain. For the social aspect, we focus on working with communities and creating shared values. ThaiBev’s fundamental principle of the Community-based Economic Development work was based not only on the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy articulated by His Majesty the late King Rama the Ninth but also from the practical work of the Mae Fah Luang Foundation or the DoiTung Project under the Royal Patronage of Princess Srinagarindra, the Princess Grandmother of our King Rama the Tenth.

Thai people are fortunate to live and prosper under the grace of our royal family. His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn has ceaselessly taken care of his people.

To run the business in a fast-changing situation, ThaiBev has a commitment to the principles of Moderation, the Solid Rationale, and the firm belief that we need to build our strength for our long-term sustainability. We learned the benefits of building our sustainable growth based on the three guiding principles and the support of the 2 key values, knowledge and virtue.

To continuously support the communities’ sustainable development. ThaiBev’s participation in the “Pracharath Policy” the government initiative plan where the Public sector, Private sector, Academia, Civil sector and the People sector came together to drive the development of the Thai economy to reach the SDG’s Goals of Decent work and economic growth, Reduced Inequalities, Quality Education Quality, and Partnerships for the goals.

A national network of area based social enterprises were formed, 76 social enterprises, one in each province. These enterprises provided business guidance to communities in three main income generating areas; agriculture, value-added products, and community-based tourism. The social enterprises helped community business groups in five value-chained steps from access to factors of production, product development and design, access to markets, to having management systems in place.

Inclusive growth is crucial for sustainable prosperity. Last year’s local economy in Thailand grew more than 10% against the national GDP growth of 3.2%. Improved quality of life at community level within the sustainable framework provided a solid foundation for Thailand to reach our targets of the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

ThaiBev remains fully committed to incorporating the ideals of both SEP and the SDGs within our business. In recognition of our success in integrating these principles into our business culture, ThaiBev was invited in 2016 to the Dow Jones Sustainable Index (DJSI), a significant milestone in our corporate history. In September 2017, ThaiBev was selected as an index component in both the DJSI World Market and DJSI Emerging Market categories in the beverage industry, ranking as the highest score in the beverage industry for two consecutive years in the Emerging Market indices.

In addition to our report, we have also continued to embrace the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), focusing on economics, environmental, social and community development work, ThaiBev also supports a range of projects that from the environmental front such as climate changes to communities’ wellbeing, sports, education, promote arts and culture—all of which are inspired by the principle of SEP to achieve the SDGs.

Tremendous opportunities lie ahead for ThaiBev. We are encouraged and energized to drive our sustainable business practices. We remain committed to our drive to become ASEAN stable and sustainable total beverage company by the year 2020.
